The historian seems to argue against it a bit here but if they found weed residue in clay pipes in his garden, I think it's safe to assume Shakespeare smoked weed. I just don'[t get why this is a surprise to anyone. When we first read Shakespeare in middle school, I thought it was super trippy.

It's an interesting tidbit, I just don't feel one way or the other about it. Strange.

Yeah, I would say Shakespeare's use might glamorize weed to higher society but considering he was supposedly more susceptible to booze, who knows! LOL

Yea, I've mostly thought that folks back then were more about opiates and alcohol. Though, that shit ain't nothin' but an opinion. I suppose when it wasn't illegal, it wasn't glamorous or edgy to smoke it, so no one talked about it.

Yeah, it was free from the taboo, although someone told me the church was still pretty vocally against it. I haven't confirmed that though. But from what I recall, the church wasn't that big of a fan of theater either. LOL

The church has never really been an advocate of thinking for yourself or having new ideas. Those are the sorts of thing that eventually direct revenue away from the church. They do not like it when revenue is directed away from them. At all.

Yeah, supposedly that's why they outlawed marriage. Too many priests leaving their estates to their families instead of the church.

Ha! Really? That's twice as fucked up as I had previously imagined.
