    I continue to fall in and out of love with the idea of passive hydroponics. my homemade attempt while growing jalapenos every year proved that a bucket/reservoir below another bucket with enough 3/8" nylon rope in the vermite medium then out a hole in the bottom into the res will indeed wick up the proper amount of water whenever the plants are thirsty. as over/under-watering appears to be a common beginner challenge, why not let the plants drink for themselves?
