I was wondering what's up with the media portraying dabbing in such a terrible light? I know that there are dangers in the actual production of dabs (exploding apartments) but there aren't really any worse health effects than smoking flower, right?

I think it's because it's labeled "concentrate". Like Liquor vs. beer or diet coke vs. red bull. Not to mention, most folks that harp about weed or concentrates, have never used or read up on it. Just uninformed noise.

Well, I'll say this, I smoke an array of different bud each day. But it's just a hit of gold oil, that I remove from fan leaf, and left over sift stubble. That seems to get me dangerously high, for say driving etc.

Extraction methods like Butane, prolly leaves a lot of poisons in the oil it produces.
Just like Rosin extracts seem to come out burned, or have characteristics of such.

While both are swift and easy extractions they leave a lot to be desired as well.

I suggest grain alcohol extraction by "plating"

Which is simply letting an extracted alcohol and oil solution. Sit on a plate for severals hours,
and the veg and chlorophyll material, settle to the bottom. Oil is then poured off, process is repeated several times, to obtain desired purity.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't take the wheel directly after dabbing LOL. Yeah, I guess intensity typically gets frowned at by the media. It's funny though because they make it sound like bath salts!

through following cheech and chong on facebook i occasionally see remarks from the flower only crowd in regards to dabbing appearing to mimic crack/meth smoking.
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

There's that too. Concentrate pipes do look just like meth pipes. Function the same way too. I'm not really enamored with the dabs thing myself. Mostly because of the amount of gear required. Dabber, torch, nail, pipe or bong compatible with said nail, containers for the concentrate, all that has to be in the immediate vicinity to dab. All you need to toke is bud, bowl, fire.

Yeah, it's expensive to get started on it. I've noticed aggression on both sides of the fence which is kind of strange. I'm live and let live and while I prefer flower, I'll dab once in a great while. Both have their appeal to me in the right moments.

The impending legalization is going to produce snobs. Same as the liquor world. I drink cheap hooch, I like it too. Dry and cheap, that's how I like my whiskey. I catch all kinds of bullshit from people that'll spend $100 on a bottle and tell me how much better it is. I get wicked shitfaced, no problem. So do they. So I fail to see the conflict.

I agree with von blown. Bho oil is way to scary. I make grain alcohol extractions too. I think the key is to not let the oil soke more than three minutes and to decarb the herb at 220 in the oven for 15 minutes and freeze the alcohol and decarbed herb 24 hours first. I made some white shatter this way the other day.

I tend to get red amber glass shatter oil from more purple or red haired buds this way.
