So this isn't a DIY as much as it's something to always keep in mind when doing a DIY.
So these some of those things to keep in mind:

Anything worth doing is worth doing right.
Always measure twice and cut once.
    Safety first
    Planning
Invision the outcome you're looking for
    Tools
Basic knowelege of how to build things i.e
Knowing how to find stud's in your walls
    General structural integrity
    Taking proper measurements
    and so on.

    Most commonly used tools:
    Saw
    Screw gun
    Hammer
    Measuring tape
    Pen/Pencil
    Safety glasses
    Level
    Different size hole saws

    Common Materials:
    PVC piping
    2x4's
    Plywood
    B&W poly/Mylar/White paint
    Screws
    Nails
    Industrial Adhesive (of some sort)

With all this in mind remember no matter what the build or thought or cost anything you make and make right will eventually pay for itself down the road. And remember it's always a good idea when working with tools, especially power tools to work in a well lit environment.

    Have fun and stay safe

Kinda figured, but you never know the experience level of your audience. I have a tool bag that used to house a very respectable set of professional electricians tools. Over the last two years it has slowly become a very nice set of grow room building tools.

not sure what to do with it but i am seeing the "designer" duct tape at the hardware store. very cool stuff. maybe i should make a dress out of it, or perhaps some flipflops.... maybe just a huge bandaid on my vehicle.
