A Curwensville man who received marijuana through the mail was sentenced to state prison in Clearfield County Court.
Dennis Christopher Glace, 40, 355 Naulton Rd., Curwensville, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in two cases for which he was sentenced to two to four years in state prison.
He was fined $4 plus costs.
He was ordered to complete drug/alcohol counseling and submit toDNAtesting at a cost of $250.
Glace and his wife, Jackie Peters Glace set up two post office boxes, one in Curwensville and one at the West Decatur post office and began receiving suspicious packages from California, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Glace had told employees that his post office box was for his contracting business.
An investigation revealed the couple had received 11 parcels at the PO boxes and had sent 16 parcels to California.
A criminal history check showed that Jackie Glace had been arrested in 2010 for violations of the Pennsylvania Controlled Substance, Drug, Delivery and Cosmetic Act.
Dennis Glace had multiple drug arrests and convictions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Washington State.
On Nov. 17, 2011 an investigator received information that a suspicious package addressed to Jackie Peters at the Curwensville PO box was mailed from Del Rio, CA.
It was pulled from the mail system and checked by a drug canine.
The dog alerted on the package, which allowed investigators to obtain a search warrant to open it.
It was found to contain 1,452 grams of marijuana.
The contents were photographed and repackaged for delivery to Curwensville.
On Nov. 18, 2011 when Jackie Glace arrived at the Curwensville post office to pick up the package, she was taken into custody.
She was taken back to her home, where she called her husband asking him to return there.
When he arrived he was informed of the investigation. Glace consented to a search of his residence and vehicle.
He gave a statement admitting that the parcel and contents belonged to him.
In October, Jackie Glace, 27, Curwensville, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in two cases.
She was sentenced to four years of probation.
