Hemp questions.

I'll be honest, I've never cared about hemp. The only hemp clothing and jewelry I've seen, has been ugly and itchy. That of course, is an opinion. I'm sure there are some lovely hemp items out there somewhere.

Does the United States produce any hemp of its own?

If no, how much do we import?

If we didn't import, could we make money?

Why the hell does it itch like wool?

No its illegal to grow hemp in the US even though its legal to import and manufacture stuff from it. We import 100% lol Yea its estimated for commercial hemp in the US to be a 5 billion dollar a year industry raising significantly after a few years. I dunno why it itches though. Never had anything hemp before

I had figured as much on the production issue. The fact that it's not psychoactive and that it would fuck up regular crops of weed seems like a boon to the government.

I think they are more concerned with the lack of funds theyd receive from oil/cotton companys more than anything else

See, another thing that baffles me. I had though that companies that large didn't even pay taxes for the most part. So the actual government isn't seeing revenue from these things, just lobbyists paying crooked politicians? What a shit deal.

Its not 100% illegal to grow hemp many States allow it with permits but they are few and hard to get cause of our fine federal government

Yep. Thats the thing, state can allow it all they want, but tax stamps like with weed are damn near impossible to get from the feds. I think hemp qualifies for it since its cannabis related
